Women's Clothing Size Guide | CN Size Reference

Clothing sizes differ from country to country. When shopping New-Chinese fashion and Chinese-market women's apparel, understanding the Chinese CN sizing system is the first step to choosing the right fit. This guide explains China's official women's sizing standard and helps you convert your size to CN.

1. China CN Women's Sizing System Explained

Chinese women's clothing follows the national standard GB/T 1335.2-2008 Standard Sizing Systems for Women's Garments. Each size is marked as Height/Bust + Body Type, for example 160/84A.

  • 160 = recommended height in centimetres
  • 84 = recommended bust circumference in centimetres
  • A = standard body type (most common; B = slightly fuller, Y = slim, C = fuller)

How to Measure Yourself Correctly

1

Bust

Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape level and not too tight.

2

Waist

Measure around your natural waistline, the narrowest part of your torso, without sucking in.

3

Hip

Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, approximately 20 cm below your waist.

Key CN Sizing Tips for International Shoppers

  • Chinese sizes generally run smaller than US and AU sizes. If you are between sizes, choose the larger one.
  • Always check the Height/Bust label (e.g. 160/84A) rather than relying only on S/M/L letters.
  • New-Chinese style garments (qipao, mandarin-collar tops, silk blouses) often use tailored cuts — refer to the seller's flat-measurement chart for the most accurate fit.
  • Fabrics with stretch (knit, jersey) may fit one size smaller; non-stretch fabrics (silk, linen, xiangyunsha) require more ease.

2. Official Standard Behind CN Sizing: GB/T 1335.2-2008

Official title: Standard sizing systems for garments — Women

Effective date: August 1, 2009

This national standard defines the body-measurement-based sizing system used for mass-produced women's apparel in mainland China. All CN size charts on S-sizeHub are built upon this standard. All figures refer to raw body measurements (not finished-garment measurements).

Body-Shape Classification (A / Y / B / C)

  • A: Standard / average body shape (most common, default for most women's clothing)
  • Y: Slim figure (large bust-waist difference)
  • B: Fuller waist
  • C: Very full waist
